RUGS

These are photos of my most current rugs. They were woven on a Harrisville Shaft Switching Loom. I dyed the yarn for all of the rugs from natural, and if available, local, sources. In the Desert and Color Chart, I documented all of the color swatches I produced.

Locally collected sources include: Black Walnut, Pokeweed, Queen Anne's Lace, Onion, Goldenrod, and Elderberry.

Purchased natural dyes include: Indigo, Osage Orange, Red Henna, Brazilwood, and Logwood.

On the left, naturally dyed wool weft from Osage Orange and Black Walnut, using various fermented strengths and mordants. The panel on the right documents all of the colors I dyed, with a corresponding label naming the plant or dye used.
